Mac and his team investigate the murder of a missing wife, LeAnn Goodman, whose body turns up on a Brooklyn Heights hillside. Dr. Hawkes' autopsy reveals LeAnn suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, perimortem smoke inhalation and bedsores. Danny discovers LeAnn inhaled "fry sticks", a cigarette laced with cough syrup. Mac finds a second victim, Russian student Zoya Pavlova, on a garbage barge with similar neck contusions and lividity marks, and determines they're looking for a serial killer. Autopsy reveals the killer broke Zoya's neck. A camera recovered on the garbage barge, gives Mac and Stella a picture of Zoya in front of an unknown brownstone, and they use reference points in the picture to triangulate her location. At the brownstone, a third victim is found hooked to a respirator barely alive. Mac and Dr. Giles determine the killer strategically strangled the victims in an attempt to "lock" them into their bodies, brain activity with complete paralysis, and didn't perfect the maneuver until the third victi

The CSI's investigate the brutal rape of a young girl, Robin Prescott, who was attacked while walking through Central Park at night, leaving her with no recollection of what happened. The semen collected off Robin does not contain DNA, the rapist was shooting "blanks", making it harder to link him to the crime. Danny discovers trace powder on Robin's dress is walnut dust used to clean statues and Stella tracks the dust to gardener, Billy Rendish, who was painting around the statues in Central Park. Billy's semen sample doesn't contain DNA but matching "nothing to nothing" is not enough evidence to convict him. Stella convinces Robin to try to identify her attacker in a lineup but when Robin doesn't show, Stella finds her dead in her bathtub, having slit her wrists. Stella goes back to the evidence and matches tree sap in the shape of a check mark on Robin's panties to a mirror image tree sap stain on Billy's jeans, proving Billy's guilt. When a human skull and torso are found on top of a double-decker tour bus in Times Square, the CSI's must determine whether it was a practical joke or murder. Based on the bone structure, Dr. Hawkes determines the victim is a Caucasian male teenager who most likely died from a blow to the head. Stella gets a hit in AFIS from a fingerprint found on the skeleton that leads to a Port Authority Bus Terminal worker, who admits pulling the prank. A black coating of diesel exhaust on the bones containing high levels of Benzene, not EPA approved since 1994, proves the victim has been dead at least ten years. Mac follows bus exhaust to a nearby basement and recovers the rest of the victim's bones, and the victim's meager possessions, including a pocketknife, backpack, artwork, and a book copyrighted in 1984, narrowing the CSI's timeline from 1984 to 1994. At the lab, Aiden uses the skull to reconstruct "John Doe's" face in clay. The parents of a boy missing since 1987 reveal the knife and backpack belonged to their so

Mac and Aiden investigate the murder of up and coming hip-hop artist DJ Banner, who was stabbed to death outside of a nightclub shortly before being crowned winner of a DJ contest. A threatening message on Banner's cell phone is traced to hip-hop mogul, Kevin Vick, who signed Banner to his label three days before the competition. Kevin denies killing Banner but 3-day-old bruises around Banner's ankles and hesitation marks in his signature suggest Kevin hung Banner over a balcony until he signed a contract. Mac finds a strip of paper from a copy of the contract on the fire escape outside of nightclub owner Jayden Prince's office, and Aiden discovers a bloody shirt in Jayden's toilet tank. A tool mark on Banner's rib bone is traced to a steel construction file and a sub dermal photograph of Jayden's hands reveals thin bruise lines from the construction file. Jayden confesses chasing Banner down the fire escape and stabbing him with the construction file, after learning Banner wasn't going to resig

The death of construction worker, Pete Riggs, during an underground explosion takes the CSI's seven hundred feet below ground into the world of "Sandhogs", a union of construction workers who build all underground tunnels in Manhattan. Autopsy reveals Pete died from Asthmatic Asphyxiation before the explosion and Mac and Danny find an empty inhaler and evidence Pete was intentionally left underground, suggesting a cover-up. They question the Sandhogs, including the Foreman and Pete's brother, Joe Riggs, who both claim it was an accident. A drop of Pete's blood is found on a Sandhog's boot and it is revealed fellow worker, Tom Zito, got in a fight with Pete for carelessly dropping his carabineer down the tunnel opening, striking Tom, leaving permanent mental damage. Later, Joe is hospitalized after a beating, but refuses to divulge any details. Mac reexamines Pete's injuries and notices his finger is dislocated and has a void from a missing Sandhog union ring. Danny and Aiden investigate a brutal slaughter of several employees of a fast food restaurant, which appears to have been an "inside job. The victims were duct taped around their wrists, with plastic bags over their heads. Danny finds a heroin syringe and traces a fingerprint on it to a victim, Octavia Figueroa's, brother, who Octavia was planning to move away from. Aiden traces a fiber transferred onto the duct tape to tape used by auto mechanics, which leads to an auto body shop owned by Octavia's boyfriend and father of her kids, Luis Torres. They find a plastic bag from the role of bags used to cover the victims' heads, and they trace carpet fibers in Luis's car to the duct tape. Danny pieces the evidence together, and Luis confesses killing Octavia and the other employees because Octavia was moving to escape her drug addicted brother and taking their kids with her. Mac and Stella investigate a sawed off lower leg and meticulously track down the owner, a wannabe amputee, dead in his bed. They

A Chinatown robbery by three men goes south when one security guard is killed and the other mistakenly fires shots at a gas tank, burning two of the robbers alive. While investigating the heist, Detective Stella Bonasera uncovers a kidnapping plot involving the bank's manager. Making matters worse, the kidnappers' ransom drop spot is blocked by an unannounced police terrorist response drill, forcing the team to uncover new clues to find the missing child.

Mac tracks the mysterious disappearance of a New York stockbroker while Stella investigates the murder of a pregnant woman thrown from the roof of a church. In a complex turn of events, the two cases merge when they discover each of their prime suspects is the same individual who suffers from schizophrenia.

When a mounted police man, Officer Valasquez, is shot by a sniper, Mac discovers the bullet is lodged in his horse. Mac faces the dilemma that "following the evidence will destroy the animal. Danny uses facial recognition software on surveillance footage during the shooting to identify bag vendor, Willie Chancey, on a disposable cell phone, appearing to communicate with the sniper. The CSI's find the cell phone at the scene and Det. Flack traces the call to airplane passenger Jerald Brown, who is detained before take off. Mac makes a 3-D replica of the bullet, allowing the horse owner's daughter to say goodbye to the horse before the extraction operation, which the horse survives. Det. Flack finds Willie's car in the airport parking lot, with Willie shot dead in the trunk. The dials inside the car are on full blast, leading Stella and Danny to discover they trigger a floor plate trap for a secret compartment housing the rifle used to kill Officer Valasquez. A woman is found outside of her apartment complex, in a bloody nightgown, pounding her hands on a dead woman's chest, causing blood to ooze from a gaping abdominal wound. Mac and Stella find a bloody wooden stake next to the victim, Rachel Camden, and muscle tissue from Rachel's heart under her apparent killer, Ophelia Dichiaria's, fingernails. Mac learns Ophelia is a parasomniac, and was sleepwalking when she was found with the victim. Using video surveillance of the apartment lobby, Mac discovers a large shadow behind Ophelia as she exits the building, and using corneal imaging, capturing details reflected in the eye's cornea, Mac identifies witness, Jason Walder, who was playing basketball nearby. Splinters from the wooden stake are found in Jason's hands and a condom in his wallet contains identical lubricant found inside Rachel. Rachel was having an affair with Jason, and when she ended it to start a family with her husband, Jason killed her. Mac learns Ophelia was trying to massage Rachel's

This episode follows three seperate stories...the A-story is about Electrocution when a body is discovered pinned to the "third rail" on a subway, the B-Story delves into the world of Art Forgery, and the C "runner" finds Aiden investigating a mysterious death which is discovered to be "Blue Ice"...the urban legend of "toilet water ice" falling from a plane and killing someone.

When Mac investigates the murder of a dog trainer at a Westminster-type dog show at Madison Square Gardens, every competitive dog owner becomes a suspect. Stella and Danny track the killer of a bike messenger who collapsed on the streets of Manhattan after getting stabbed while making deliveries...the only problem is our CSIs must pin down where the actual crime was committed along a 4.8 mile delivery route.

The murder of a kid in a NY park leads our CSIs to meet the mob's next generation of "made guys from the Tanglewood section of the Bronx, only these not-so goodfellas kill for sport instead of business. Mac and Stella discover the murder of a convenience store clerk was committed by a wannabe who was trying to impress other Tanglewood gang members. The death of a female driver in a hit and run accident leads Danny and Aiden into the backrooms of an Asian massage parlor, where the woman was a masseuse and the evidence indicates one of her male clients may have been unhappy with her.
